Less than 5 weeks to go! Most of the RSVPs are in but if they not, get them in as quickly as possible.

Here's the timeline for the day!

The results of the last survey are in. The popular vote was a tie between us going to Boston or Kansas. Arizona was a decent second place. Las Vegas trailed way in the back with one lonely vote. Despite this, Las Vegas is in fact the winner! Come August, we will be packing up and migrating West for Max to attend UNLV. Until then we will continue to hang out in Iowa as Floris has landed a summer internship in Decorah.

So here's another survey for you all!

    The Floris/Max Trivia!

Just a little note here about our reception venue. Last week, the Lowe Park Amphitheater and Sculpture Trail project was selected as one of six Iowa communities to receive funding from the Vision Iowa Board.

Here's a little blurb from a post about the project:
The project features an amphitheater with a 50-foot wide stage that has an oak leaf-like sculptured canopy and an art sculpture trail. Utilities, storm water management and wetlands construction/ restoration are also included in the scope of the project. Construction is expected to be complete in December 2013.

How will this affect our wedding?

There's still snow there right now...
It will not.

There will probably be some construction out back, but since the reception is inside (in the nice air-conditioned building) it shouldn't cause any hassle. You'll still be able to enjoy the sculpture trails and little playground, if you so choose.

And that pond is frozen...

This is not exactly wedding related but we are excited about it so we will post about it anyway! Two weekends before the wedding we are going to this music festival and they finally posted the line-up. We went to the festival the last time it happened two years ago. Then we only went for one of the two days, but this year we have our tickets all prime and ready to go to the entire two-day concert/camping/awesome extravaganza!

Welcome! If you're coming here for the first time, you probably just got your invitation to our wedding. Take some time to explore the site and don't forget to RSVP. We're excited to hear from all of you!

Post-wedding, Max wants to head right into grad school for music composition. He is currently full-force in the application process and Floris is full-force researching museums to work at in each city (and more!). We'll be happy to go anywhere he is accepted, but since we haven't posted anything on this blog for a while, here's a fun poll for you all:

    Where should we go

The official cupcake decision!
It was a long and arduous process, filled with trying cupcake cake taste-testing, but we made it through. We will be getting cupcakes from Scratch Bakery in Cedar Falls. We will getting two flavors of theirs, which will remain secret. If happen to swing by Cedar Falls or Waterloo, be sure to stop in and try them.

In other news, check this out. That's right. President Obama visited Cedar Rapids (which for those of you who don't know, is the city literally right next to Marion) and stayed in the very hotel where you yourself can stay for our wedding. Though we can't guarantee you the same level of security...

The Out-of-Town Guest page is now live. Currently this just has hotel information, but as the wedding day comes closer, we will provide more information about things to do around and about the Marion area.

Hello! Welcome to our Wedding Website, your hub for all things our wedding. We are Floris A. Bannister and Max R. Lafontant. We're getting married and if you've received a message from us leading you to this website, you're invited to our wedding. Don't wait on an invitation in the mail because we will be using this website in lieu of printed mailings in an effort to be both eco-friendly and economical.
Technology is fun and we've tried to make this website as user-friendly as possible. For those of you not so familiar with navigating the web, here's a brief 101 class on using this site. Up above, beneath the banner that says "Floris & Max's Wedding Site," you will see a pages bar. This has links to all the pages available on this website. You are currently on the Home page, which is a blog (a shared on-line journal). Here, we will post updates and fun pictures somewhat regularly (or as often as we remember to). To navigate to another page, click on the name of the page you want to get to. Some pages (like the Floris & Max page) have sub-pages, which you can reach by first hovering over the name of the main page. This makes a drop-down menu appear, revealing the sub-pages. Throughout the website, you will see some text that is blue (like so) and turns green when you hover your pointer over them. This shows that the text is linked to another page: if you click on it, it will take you to another page, either on this website or to an external page.
If you ever find something that isn't working on the site or if something just isn't there, let us know. We've provided a few ways to reach us on the Contact Us page, or you can also comment on this blog post. In the mean time, be sure to check out your video Save the Date, give us your contact information in the Address Book, and explore the website.
